Volunteers make the world (and our museum) go 'round!
Volunteers are truly the lifeblood of any organization, and we can't tell you how wonderful we think our volunteers are! Over the course of the past few years, they have:
- rebuilt, restored and launched "Black Jack," the oldest floating Friendship Sloop (yep, that's her, going in the water (above)!)
- built "Persistence" a new Friendship Sloop
- built a working model of a limestone kiln
- helped with numerous events
- working on restoring a beetle cat and 2 Herreshoff 12-1/2s
- completing Jade, a Muscongus Bay Sloop
- cataloging our collection
- serving on our board and committees
- helping to build an awesome sailing school and center
Note from Captain Jim Sharp, Founder of the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum: "Volunteers are the catalyst that keeps us going. Our volunteers are wonderful people that devote incredible talent and time, doing so many jobs and wonderful projects around the museum and the waterfront. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how much we appreciate them."
